Kayak Fishing the Williamson River isn’t for the faint of heart. The fast water sections give a rush of adrenaline in between the meandering pools full of large Redband Trout. The Feelfree Lure 13.5 handles this river exceptionally well. I can’t imagine paddling the Williamson River in a thin walled Kayak with all of the rocks and lava ridges just below the waters surface. The Stability of the Feelfree Lure also makes this trip a breeze.
The Trout in this River are a Subspecies of Rainbow Trout called Redband Trout. In this River, they can grow up to 30 inches long, or more. They travel in between this river and Klamath Lake and they eat, eat, eat as they are doing so.
The Williamson River is a top 100 Trout River and it needs to be on your bucket list whether you are a fly fisherman or a conventional tackle fisherman. I have come to really appreciate it through my friend Dean, who helps head up Southern Oregon Kayak Fishing, a growing group of Kayak Anglers in the Klamath Basin and Surrounding areas. In this video dad and I head up to a small highland lake in hopes of catching a good bag of fish. Pine Tier Lagoon is mostly known for being filled to the brim with small brown and rainbow trout. Combined dad and I had 20 follows and six strikes, most of these from small fish, Pine Tier Lagoon is a good place to fish if you want to land your first trout, or just want a high catch rate.
